I do not watch TV at all now. In the past I was a big TV fan, I don't know if I changed or if TV sucks now. But I recognize all these shows, they were great! 8 years ago my dad died and this was one of the songs I picked to play at his funeral as it was one of his favourite songs. Even after all this time, 10 seconds into the song I just well up with emotion and memories of my old man. don't know why but Ive always had thought this song had came out in the mid sixties not in 72. Its got that guitar sound from the sixties. Sounds dated for 1972 which by then was all about the singer songwriter era that included the likes of the Carpenters, James Taylor, Jim Croce and Gordon Lightfoot. All grandma music with acoustic guitars and such. A sad time for Rock N Roll.. BTW you got to check out their song called Bus Stop. It kicks ass!

Dolly wrote this about proceeding with her solo career as she parted with her mentor, Porter Waggoner. Whitney Houston's cover was a huge hit as well, but Dolly made plenty of royalties from those sales. It is a very evocative song, and the first time I saw Dolly perform it was singing to Burt Reynolds in the movie, "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas". It was surprising in its ability to touch the listener, but it showcased Dolly's amazing vocal range as well as her ability as a songwriter.

Lyrically this era is one of the greatest, a combination of poetry and storytelling with Styx being some of the best. Being an 80's teenager was the greatest.
